KVPY is a national level fellowship programme in the field of Basic Sciences. KVPY is conducted by Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bangalore.
KVPY fellowship has a two-stage selection process i.e. Aptitude Test and Personal Interview
KVPY exam is conducted in two streams Stream SA and Stream SX / SB
Stream SA: Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects)
Stream SX : Students enrolled in XII Standard (Science Subjects)
Stream SB : Students Pursuing Basic Science and currently in the first year of graduation
The merit list is based on 75% weightage for Aptitude Test marks in the streams SA, SB and SX and 25% weightage for personal interview.
Time : 180 minutes
Medium : English or Hindi
Stream SA : Total 80 Questions.
Part I – 15 Questions of 1 mark each in each subject, Part II – 5 Questions of 2 mark each in each subject
Each part is divided into four sections (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics). All the questions are compulsory (Science and Mathematics).
Stream SB/SX : In streams-SB and SX, there are four sections in both Part I and Part II (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics). Candidates may answer any THREE subjects in Part I and any TWO subjects in Part II. In case candidate attempts more sections, best of three in Part I and best of two in Part II will be considered.
Part I - 20 Questions of 1 mark each in each subject
Part II – 10 Questions of 2 mark each in each subject
In all the streams, there is NEGATIVE marking of 0.25 in Part I and 0.50 in Part II.
